Hello, my name is Mwebe Anthony - a graduate from Buiga Sunrise primary school. I started schooling from Sunrise since 2013. My parents brought me to live with my aunt when I was 8 years of age. This is when I started my primary level in grade one. It was my first time to join a unique school, indeed it was my first time to see white people haha (muzungu in my language). I wondered and told my aunt that I usually see them in movies - wow it was a surprise to me. The teachers where like my friends - they were more kind and nurturing, and they helped me develop essential skills like reading, writing and counting.
Throughout my time in preschool, I was an eager learner, always excited to participate in class and explore new activities which were taught at school, such as chalk making, making of charcoal briquettes from saw dust, performing cultural dances and mushroom growing projects. For sure the school was extremely different from the rest rest of the schools around the community. Through some of the above projects taught I became interested in some areas, for example, selling the products we used to make, got me to get interested in business management.
The skills l learned from my teachers were the foundations for my journey to complete preschool and continue to high level school in secondary. Through dance performances to our visitors at school l was given a bursary because of my passion for learning. l was inspired by my sponsors and worked hard and indeed earned my reward through sponsorship from 2019 up to date. Right now I am in secondary level and in my schooling last year I was awarded two certificates; one for completing “O level”, which has allowed me to progress to advanced levels (“A levels) and the second for completing the first level in electrical engineering and installation. I am looking forward to doing the second level of electrical installation this year. In advanced “A level” I am studying physics, entrepreneurship and mathematics. With these subjects l can do civil engineering and business management, which is my dream.
I would like to also appreciate my sponsors Kelly, Mike and Sean for their generosity - it has really made a significant impact on my life and education journey. I really appreciate them for the efforts and for believing in me. Thank you so much.
